In this two-week multi-day course, students will learn the step-by-step process of self-publishing (as taught by a published author).

We will cover topics such as:
-what is an ISBN number, why is it important, why do books have one, and how to secure one for your book
-copyrighting, how to get your work legally secured, how to apply for a copyright, how to create a copyright page
-how to upload your manuscript to a Direct Publishing platform
-how to edit and format your own manuscript so that it's "print" ready
-how to write a book blurb for the back of your novel
-how to do cover design and illustrations
-how to input sales information for distribution
-how to order your own author copies at a discounted rate
-the prices of self-publishing
-the pros/cons of self-publishing compared to traditional publishing

The class will be taught through a series of lecture, powerpoint, discussion, questionnaires, and hands-on document exploration. My teaching style is engaging, kind, and open to helping each student's individual writing needs.
