In this two-week multi-day course, students will learn the step-by-step process of self-publishing (as taught by a published author). We will cover topics such as: -what is an ISBN number, why is it important, why do books have one, and how to secure one for your book -copyrighting, how to get your work legally secured, how to apply for a copyright, how to create a copyright page -how to upload your manuscript to a Direct Publishing platform -how to edit and format your own manuscript so that it's "print" ready -how to write a book blurb for the back of your novel -how to do cover design and illustrations -how to input sales information for distribution -how to order your own author copies at a discounted rate -the prices of self-publishing -the pros/cons of self-publishing compared to traditional publishing The class will be taught through a series of lecture, powerpoint, discussion, questionnaires, and hands-on document exploration. My teaching style is engaging, kind, and open to helping each student's individual writing needs.
