In this 2 week course students will learn the step by step process of traditional publishing (how to get your book published by a publishing house). We will discuss topics such as: Week 1- how to write a query letter, how to land a literary agent why an agent is necessary for traditional publishing Week 2- how to get a contract with a publishing house copyright laws/expectations, ISBN number protocol and the pros/cons of publishing this route My teaching style is interactive and immersive; a mixture of discussion and personalized topics based (what books are the students currently writing or interested in writing) as well as powerpoint and fact based.

Students will improve their understanding of how the process of traditional book publishing works and how long it takes.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Teacher Kate has 12 years of professional teaching experience with a Bachelors degree in English, Arts, & Humanities, as well as a Masters Degree in Educational Psychology. She is also an award winning poet and a multi-published author herself who has been published both in the traditional publishing route and the self-publishing route so she can speak from experience on both ends.
