Class Experience

Let's talk about rounding. Rounding is an important math skill. In this class, students will learn how to round to the nearest tens, and hundreds.  I will teach them a rhyme to help them remember what to do. We will do some guided practice and then students will get to practice using a Blooket game. Blooket is a great game because not only are they practicing the skill just learned, but they also get to use strategies to help them win the game. It's not about how fast you answer, but about getting your answers correct and using strategies.

Students are not required to have a separate device, but some do like to see the scoreboard as they play. If your student wants to keep seeing the scoreboard, he/she will need to either split screen or use a tablet or a phone to play the game.

Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to visit my virtual classroom. I am a certified teacher offering classes in Spanish, English as a Second Language, Reading, and elementary school subjects and crochet. When I was in high school, I had an opportunity to internship at an elementary school and from that moment I fell in love with education. I went on to get my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and have been teaching ever since. I started out in the regular elementary classroom and then had opportunities to teach Spanish, Reading and English as a Second Language.

I love helping children grow as learners. It gives me great joy to see them learn and achieve their goals. There is nothing better than working with a struggling reader and hearing them say "I can read this!" I believe that children learn best when they are having fun, and feel safe. It is my goal to make each child feel this way. I want them to know that they matter to me.

I was born in Venezuela and moved to the states at the age of 10. This has helped me connect with my ESL students in the past because I understand what they are going through. In Venezuela they speak Spanish, which is why I feel comfortable teaching Spanish to young learners. I have 3 kids and I decided to work from home so that I could enjoy as much of my time with them as possible. Time flies and I want to continue working in education and encouraging children to find a love of learning.
