Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 4
In this ongoing class, students will receive 1 on 1 tutoring for half an hour on Elementary Math, Reading or Spanish. Classes are taylor made to fit the needs of your student. If there is not a class listed, please ask, I will do my best to add a section that works for you! I will work with you and your child to meet his or her needs. I will build on what they know and help them grow.

Depending on what your goal for your student is, a reading class might be using books at the students level from Reading A-Z or written by Mrs. Alise on their instructional level and below. I will use easier books to build fluency and instructional level books to introduce strategies that will help them grow as readers. We will be reading familiar books, talking about books, writing a short sentence or story, and introducing a new book and reading strategies to help the young reader. We might also work on reading comprehension passages and questions for them to answer. The books we will use will either be written by me, or through RAZKids (I have been given permission from the company to use these books for tutoring purposes). I also have books similar to the ones in RAZkids that an author has given me permission to use.

For Math, I will meet your student where he or she is and use Google Slides, Jamboard, and Nearpod to help students advance in Math. I will try to make sure that they are able to have virtual manipulatives to help them get a better understanding of the concept. I can help with elementary school math concepts, such as odd and even, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication just to name a few.

In Spanish, I will work to teach students vocabulary and pronunciation. I will also use Google Slides, Jamboard and Nearpod for Spanish class. Depending on the student level, we will work on basic conversational Spanish, learning numbers, colors and greetings, and basic writing.

Each session will be individualized for your student's needs. Parents will be provided feedback through the Outschool classroom, and are encouraged to share concerns or needs with me. It takes a team to help children grow.

Parental Guidance
We will be using Google Slides, Canva Whiteboard, Bingobaker, and Interacty. Students might have to log into a Google account in order to manipulate Slides or Jamboard. We will use BingoBaker to play bingo with new vocabulary. Interacty is a site that allows me to create games for students and share the link for the game. I tend to create memory games or matching games. I might ask students to share their screen so that I am better able to help them.
Supply List
White board with dry erase marker is encouraged, but not absolutely necessary.

Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to visit my virtual classroom. I am a certified teacher offering classes in Spanish, English as a Second Language, Reading, and elementary school subjects and crochet. If you would like me to work with your child, please don't hesitate to reach out! I look forward to meeting you and your child.

When I was in high school, I had an opportunity to internship at an elementary school and from that moment I fell in love with education. I went on to get my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and have been teaching ever since. I started out in the regular elementary classroom and then had opportunities to teach Spanish, Reading and English as a Second Language.

I love helping children grow as learners. It gives me great joy to see them learn and achieve their goals. There is nothing better than working with a struggling reader and hearing them say "I can read this!" I believe that children learn best when they are having fun, and feel safe. It is my goal to make each child feel this way. I want them to know that they matter to me.

I was born in Venezuela and moved to the states at the age of 10. This has helped me connect with my ESL students in the past because I understand what they are going through. In Venezuela they speak Spanish, which is why I feel comfortable teaching Spanish to young learners. I have 3 kids and I decided to work from home so that I could enjoy as much of my time with them as possible. Time flies and I want to continue working in education and encouraging children to find a love of learning.
