Available in English or Spanish. In this 1 on 1 ongoing class the student will learn vital strategies to use as lifelong readers with a highly qualified reading specialist.
Class experience
US Grade Kindergarten - 1
Sign up in a class with openings at any time!! I can't wait to meet you. In this class, struggling readers will receive individualized instruction to help them grow as readers from a Reading Recovery trained teacher. We will beginning by assessing what the student knows and building on his/her strengths. Once the reading level is determined, students will start lesson reading familiar books written by Mrs. B on their level and about topics they might like. We will then do some word work...
Students will improve their fluency, knowledge of sight words and eventually learn to feel like successful readers. They will learn strategies to help them figure out unknown words, as well as, how to use visuals and what you know to become stronger readers..
Homework Offered
Students will need to read familiar books each night. I recommend parents to rewrite the story (sentence) that the student wrote in class on a strip of paper and cut the words apart so that they can reassemble the words.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed during each class using a running record while they read the new book read in the last class.Grades Offered
Students will need a notebook and markers to use during the writing segment of the class.
We will be using RAZKids for some of our books, if not all during this class. We may also use Nearpod and Jamboard, depending on student needs.
