Class Experience

Beginner Level
Making amigurumis can be so much fun. Not only that, but while you are making them you are learning a wonderful skill that can be used for so much more!!
This club is an opportunity to learn more about crochet, make new friends, and use your creativity. Here you will learn about making amigurumis.
Students are welcomed to join any time and stay for as long as they need or want to. Each class will begin with introductions. After introductions, we will talk about what we will be creating, and review anything the student needs to review. Students will be able to share what they have been working on and ask questions. I will help students according to what stage their project is in. For example, if a student needs to learn how to decrease stitches, how to add eyes, or more.
I will also provide students with a slideshow that will provide them with images and steps involved in making a little monster amigurumi. This is a very easy starter project. Once they complete their starter project, we will see where the club takes us with our amigurumi creations.

Week 1 (September 18) - Peony flower
Week 2 (September 25) - Assemble peony flower.
Week 3 (November 9) - Pumpkin
Week 4 (November 16) - Apple coaster.
Projects requested by students have been minecraft cube critters, a frog, axolotl, a sloth... Tell me what you want to learn and we will work on trying to figure it out.

If a student feels they have a good grasp of what we are doing, and can't or doesn't want to stay the whole time, they are free to leave early. The length of each class is to give ample time for questions and to repeat the instructions as necessary.

Welcome! Thank you for taking the time to visit my virtual classroom. I am a certified teacher offering classes in Spanish, English as a Second Language, Reading, and elementary school subjects and crochet. If you would like me to work with your child, please don't hesitate to reach out! I look forward to meeting you and your child.

When I was in high school, I had an opportunity to internship at an elementary school and from that moment I fell in love with education. I went on to get my degree in Elementary Education from the University of Alabama at Birmingham and have been teaching ever since. I started out in the regular elementary classroom and then had opportunities to teach Spanish, Reading and English as a Second Language.

I love helping children grow as learners. It gives me great joy to see them learn and achieve their goals. There is nothing better than working with a struggling reader and hearing them say "I can read this!" I believe that children learn best when they are having fun, and feel safe. It is my goal to make each child feel this way. I want them to know that they matter to me.

I was born in Venezuela and moved to the states at the age of 10. This has helped me connect with my ESL students in the past because I understand what they are going through. In Venezuela they speak Spanish, which is why I feel comfortable teaching Spanish to young learners. I have 3 kids and I decided to work from home so that I could enjoy as much of my time with them as possible. Time flies and I want to continue working in education and encouraging children to find a love of learning.
