In this class we will be reading the charming book by Grace Lin, "Round is a Mooncake". We will follow a little girl's journey around her neighborhood as she discovers shapes around her. While most items she finds around her home are Asian in origin, like rice bowls or dim sum, there are other items like pizza boxes that are recognized universally. Learners will be gently introduced to shapes as well as culture. With the Mid Autumn Festival (popularly known as the Mooncake Festival)...
Learners should be prepared to have items in different shapes to share in class. They can be any simple household and everyday items they feel comfortable sharing. For the craft: White paper plate Glue Various sized buttons Glitter or sequins Hole punch Ribbon
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
