Students will delve into the ever-changing world of Broadway musicals and learn how to recognize musicals that are in the pop/rock genre as opposed to traditional musical theatre (pre-1965) We will discuss and explore the varying differences in the music and production of musicals that are based in 4 pop/rock genres - Motown - "Ain't Too Proud: The Life and Times of The Temptations" 70s Disco - "Mamma Mia" R&B/Rap - "Hamilton" Contemporary Pop/Rock - "Rent, Dear Evan Hansen" This class...
Students will learn to appreciate the differences in each musical pop/rock genre and its corresponding original influences.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
