1 hour per week. It is recommended that the learner reads every day for 15 minutes a day. The learner may need to finish their craft or activity at home after class. They will have reading books to pass off at home, going at their own pace.Assessment
The learner will be assessed at the "review" classes. Each child learns at their own pace and will move at different speeds. The concepts will be built upon to ensure understanding.Class Experience
US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
Are you looking for a great way to get your pre-k child reading in time for Kindergarten, or want your older child to review letters/get on a higher reading level (This class is great for pre-k through 2nd grade)? Look no further. This class offers tools your child will need to be a successful and confident reader. Every day, learners will have the opportunity to engage with one another, learn new letters in a specific order that they can eventually blend with, and stay engaged throughout class using a variety of strategies to maintain knowledge retention. Learning is accomplished through the use of pre-recorded class videos (NO LIVE MEETINGS). Class structure: •Welcome song •Alphabet song (different from the one you and I may know) •Introduction to letter or blend through visual, song, story, and repetition •Reinforcement of letter or blend through worksheets or books •Activity or craft that may be finished at home •If time, show and tell Each class we will learn a new letter or blend, a song to go along with that letter, an activity or craft to go along with the lesson, and the learner may bring a show and tell item beginning with that letter to share. We will start adding a book every class, sometimes 2, that follow along with the lessons. Your child will eventually be able to read these books at home and pass them off with you. Self paced schedule info: I will send out two instructional videos of myself each week. I will go over the songs, the letter or blend, and the lesson. I will then explain the homework and assign it. You will have the week to complete both assignments. Once completed you will upload them to the classroom so I may check for accuracy and you can share your work with others. You will receive feedback for your work, as well as comment on your peers' work. Students will be able to interact, ask questions, and receive feedback, but still go at their own pace with the Flexible schedule. Uploading to the Classroom: Once the student has completed their activity, homework, or craft for the week they will upload it to the Outschool classroom by taking a picture or video. I am available for office hours for extra help if and when needed (meaning you can schedule a live meeting with me- think of it as a parent-teacher-student conference)! Class Schedule: This can be found in the syllabus Goals: The class is designed to hold your child's interest while giving them a new concept right when they need it. They will be challenged with a new concept each lesson, then they will have the help to succeed in understanding it. When they do, they can obtain a reward with the included prizes directly linked the concept they have just learned. The students will learn through sight, song, repetition, and building upon previously learned concepts. They will also be able to show off their creative side by bringing something to share with others that begins with the letter we will be reviewing. This class helps children develop language and comprehension skills through activities that teach sequencing, rhyming, classification, same/different, and opposites. They learn letters and sounds through music and fun object lessons. As the children begin learning the letters and sounds, I teach the blending concept and they begin reading words and books within the first few weeks of beginning the program. Then we broaden the reading experience to solidify skills and build self-confidence. Just for fun: We will celebrate themed days and dress up days. We will also celebrate when our classmates have a birthday. We will take a few breaks for Holidays and Spring Break, ending the semester in May. Using the 4 weeks to read program: Learning Dynamics Reading System has been used and fine-tuned in preschool through second-grade classrooms for 20 years. Students who use it for only 15 minutes, three times a week, reach a beginning third-grade reading level in only a few months. Learning Dynamics builds a solid reading foundation with: Phonics methodology. A structured, progressive program. Multi-sensory lesson activity. With each new letter and reading rule, children practice only what has been learned. Children gain confidence quickly and show measurable results with each lesson. They have fun with appealing games, songs, and lesson activities in an easy first reading experience. ***Recommendations for this class are taking the Learning Dynamics: Preschool Reading Readiness Course part 1 (either live or FLEX version) OR having completed Learning Dynamics up to lesson 26. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Preschool, prek, pre-k, kindergarten, kinder, abcs, letters, alphabet, sounds, writing, phonics, phonemic awareness, CVC, math, numbers, counting, shapes, colors, homeschool, education, teach, learn, ESL, English, math, semester, full year, home education, circle time, show and tell, share

**Note: If your learner needs more work or more practice, I am happy to accommodate and come up with a more individualized plan for them by suggesting additional homework materials.
I am happy to cater my classes for my students.

Parental Guidance
Parents may need to help their child with sounding out words, or reviewing the letters. Occasionally we will do activities in class that may require some cutting or gluing.
I am available for office hours for extra help if and when needed (meaning you can schedule a live meeting with me- think of it as a parent-teacher-student conference)!
Supply List
I am able to scan and send most of the material needed during class. For optimal results in and out of the classroom I would highly recommend having a printer for the weekly handouts and books.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
