Homework
1 hour per week. We will do most of the projects in class. The student will need paper and a pencil, or a whiteboard. I will ask you to print off some items before class starts and cut them out/color them. There will be a few extra math equations I will send home for extra practice. The students will be able to upload their assignments and projects to share in the Outschool classroom.
Assessment
The learner will be assessed throughout class to ensure understanding and mastery of the concepts. I will double check the learners' work through the classroom when they upload their assignments.

Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 1
Are you looking for a fun, interactive way to teach your young child the basics of math? Look no further! This class will offer the basics of mathematics in a fun, eye-opening way. I have been tutoring mathematics since 2014. This course will be a 4-class session. Each class, the student will learn new concepts and build upon what they have previously learned. We will focus on 1-2 new skills per class using animals, bugs, blocks, lego, dominoes, dice, and even movie characters! Learning is accomplished through the use of pre-recorded class videos (NO LIVE MEETINGS).

Content:

•Counting to 10, adding and subtracting using a 10-frame.

•Adding and subtracting on a number line.

•Shapes and Graphing.

•Numeral recognition and review.

After each class the student will be able to upload their assignments to the Outschool classroom. They will be able to ask questions, when needed, and respond to prompts for extra practice.

The student will have that week to watch the educational video, showing them how to use the concepts, as well as be able to complete their assignments and upload them to the Classroom!

I am also available for “office hours” (like a parent-teacher-child conference) at your request.

The students will need to print a few things off before the start of each class. If they have building blocks or legos, that will be helpful, as well as having either a whiteboard or pencil/paper.
Please share any photos of the students with their MATHtastic take-home activities!
Learning Goals
Students will learn the beginning basics of math. They will be able to count to 10, make a number line, begin graphing, and recognize numerals. They will be able to recognize shapes. Students will be able to comfortably add and subtract simple numbers.

Syllabus

4 Lessons
over 4 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Counting to 10, adding and subtracting using a 10-frame
In this class we will practice the numbers 0-10. I will teach the students how the numbers look and how to write the numbers. We will learn to add and subtract basic numbers with a 10-frame using bugs and Disney characters.
Lesson 2:
Adding and subtracting on a number line
In this class we will make a number line. We will look at some simple addition and subtraction problems and learn to solve them using a number line with cute animals. We will also play a number game.
Lesson 3:
Shapes and Graphing
In this class we will review simple shapes: circles, squares, triangles, rectangles. We will make a graph and begin graphing shapes. After this is mastered, we will start graphing things we see around the house in a fun graphing game using blocks/lego.
Lesson 4:
Numeral recognition and review
In this class we will practice using numeral recognition with dominoes and dice. We will play a matching game to determine mastery. We will do a fun review game to end the course.
