In this ongoing sight word class, we will focus on four sight words each week from Fry's First 100 Sight Words, practice reading with fluency and expression, and answer comprehension questions about the Reader's Theater that we will be practicing. We will practice segmenting, reading, and spelling sight words, and identifying the "tricky" parts of each word through a variety of interactive games and activities. Each class will follow a similar flow: Greeting Warm-Up Song Sight Word introduction Sight Word Practice Sight Word Games Fluency Practice Reader's Theater Comprehension Check Closing I will teach using songs, games, and direct instruction. Lessons will be interactive and include the use of students using the annotate feature to underline, circle, or write on my shared screen during our sessions together. Students will work cooperatively with other classmates to reach goals set in games throughout our class together. Teacher expertise and credentials
Virginia Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hi! My name is Molly. I am a wife and mother to five (James is 6, Collin is 4, and triplet 2 year olds, Grace, Hazel, and Nellie!). I received my B.A. in Psychology and Public Policy from The College of William and Mary in 2009. I received my M.A.T.- Elementary Education from Liberty University in 2011. I have 5 years of formal classroom experience. I spent 4 years teaching Kindergarten and 1 year teaching 1st grade. I also served my brick-and-mortar school as an International Baccalaureate program coordinator. I have spent the last several years as an online ESL teacher to students across the world.
I LOVED teaching in the kindergarten classroom because it taught me that learning can be magical. I have learned how to channel that momentum to create wonder and engagement in little learners. I like to incorporate a lot of movement and song into my classes and believe in learning with the whole body. I view my role of teacher as the guide and know that students learn best through the hands-on, engaging experiences that I am able to provide for them. I have a passion for teaching early literacy skills and like to incorporate aspects of math, science, art, and other disciplines into my lessons whenever possible.
My classroom will always be positive, inviting, interactive, and engaging. I am so excited to meet your child. I cannot wait to be a part of your child's educational journey!
Let's learn and have fun together.
- Miss Molly
