Reading Together Book Club!

Does your child lack motivation to read independently or would your learner enjoy reading aloud in class and discussing books? If so, this may be the book club for them! Reading is crucial to success in all areas of their life!  I have helped students become more interested and open to reading and exploring stories and ideas through novels that they were closed to before. 

   In this book club, we will read together in class to develop and enhance reading fluency and comprehension. To foster independent reading, students will be assigned chapters to read before each class.

     This reading book club will help students strengthen comprehension skills, discover a variety of literary genres, (classics, contemporary, and historic fiction)  gain exposure to new vocabulary, increase critical thinking skills, make inferences, make connections, practice reading fluency, and learn how to discuss what they are reading. Students may be provided supplementary materials to guide them through each book.

   This is an ongoing class that will take four to six weeks to read each novel. Students will complete a Kahoot quiz to check for comprehension at the end of each class. 
   
     I am kind, encouraging, patient,certified teacher! I adore reading and sharing my passion for with students of all ages. I will provide feedback, comments, and suggestions for each student on an as-needed basis. 

  
February- March 10th: A Night Divided by Jennifer Neilson (historical fiction)
Read the first 9 chapters before the first meeting. (61 pages)

March 17: Fish in a Tree ( contemporary)
