Boost essential reading comprehension skills by understanding and using the six high-impact strategies necessary for reading success. These comprehension strategies are foundational for upper elementary reading and writing success across all subjects. Perfect for rising 3rd–5th graders who want to sharpen their reading skills in a fun, structured, and supportive environment—whether to prepare for the school year ahead or to stay on track during school breaks! Each session focuses on one strategy through the use of engaging short texts, interactive activities, and simple graphic organizers. Students will learn how to read with purpose, think critically, and support their thoughts with text evidence. Direct explanation I explain to students why the strategy helps comprehension and when to apply the strategy. 2. Modeling I model, or demonstrate how to apply the strategy, usually by “thinking aloud” while reading the text that the students are using. 3. Guided practice I guide and assist students as they learn how and when to apply the strategy. 4. Application Students practice the strategy until they can apply it independently. Each lesson includes interactive teacher instruction, guided reading passages, comprehension questions, and writing short responses. By the end of this class, students will be more confident readers who can understand and analyze texts with ease! 📚✨

My classes operate under the 'Limited' refund policy. Learners can withdraw with a refund up to a week before class starts or within 24 hours of purchase. Refunds are not given for withdraws outside this window, but transfers may be requested before class begins.
According to Outschool Policy: If you miss a class, you cannot get an automatic refund. However, learners may be transferred to the first available section at the teacher’s discretion, and a recording may be available.
Class No Shows:
If your learner has not joined the class meeting 10 minutes after the start time, the meeting may be canceled, at the teacher’s discretion. Class no-shows are considered a missed sessions, and you are not entitled to a refund. If possible, I will record a class video and make it available in our classroom.
Late to Class:
If your learner joins a class late, please note that I will do my best to keep the late student up to speed. However, I will not re-teach missed portions of the class. Your student will access our classroom video for review and to complete any missed work. Please contact me with questions as your learner completes their missed work.
Classroom Management:
Classroom behavior expectations are addressed at the beginning of each session. Learners in the majority of my writing courses will participate in group brainstorming sessions. Mics remain on during this portion of the class. Students are encouraged to participate at their comfort level. As we enter the writing stage of the class, mics are muted as needed. I believe an engaged learner actively learns by asking questions, seeking feedback, and inquiring about the writing process.
