Hello, and welcome to Outschool! My name is Ms. Kristin. I am a licensed elementary school teacher with my Masters Degree in Elementary Education for grades 1-6. I absolutely love teaching! I have taught grades 3, 4, and 5 in a brick-and-mortar school for over eight years and have been teaching online, too, for the past four years. As a classroom teacher, I have become very familiar with elementary subjects for grades 1-5 and their corresponding standards in math, English, reading, writing, science, social studies, and test prep. Familiarity with different grade levels allows me to differentiate my instruction and guide students to higher levels of thinking as they master grade-level concepts and seek to enhance their skills. My lessons are based on Common Core State Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards.

Educational Philosophy: 
I believe that students succeed when they are engaged, valued, and when lessons are personalized in some way to each individual student. During each lesson, I use positive reinforcement and gentle guidance to ensure students feel safe sharing their ideas. I strive to foster an inclusive and relaxed classroom environment and encourage students to participate, learn from each other, and have fun with the materials.
