Class Experience
In this ongoing reading comprehension course, students will engage in weekly small group reading fluency and comprehension practice for fiction and nonfiction texts. Students will use evidence-based reading comprehension strategies that allow them to comprehend texts in a deeper way. We will connect the ideas in the text to students' background knowledge throughout class through discussion and note-taking. Reading passages are at a 3-4th grade reading level. Students will be able to read and understand fiction and non-ficiton grade level texts (texts are leveled at grades 3-4) by using reading comprehension strategies. Students will be able to use context clues, background knowledge, and dictionary skills as they uncover meaning, vocabulary, and make inferences when reading a text.
