Use coupon code ✨ELIZAREADBEGINTRIAL59✨ to try out the first week for just $1! Hi there! My name is Ms. Elizabeth, and I'm offering private reading tutoring to help your child with early reading skills and reading practice. In this ongoing 1:1 reading tutoring class, your learner will learn to read with an experienced teacher. This class will be highly individualized to fit your learner’s needs. During our first session, I will assess what reading level your learner is on through fun activities and games that measure skills in phonological awareness, phonics, letter recognition, and spelling. Then we will follow a scope and sequence to learn the foundational skills your learner needs in order to start reading fluently. My tutoring program follows the research-based science of reading principles, including teaching oral language, phonological awareness and phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading/language comprehension, and writing. I will also be using various resources as a guide in our word study journey and early reading lessons, including Reading A-Z, Learning at the Primary Pond, and the book The Next Step Forward in Word Study and Phonics, by Jan Richardson and Michele Dufresne. For learners who are ready to begin reading on their own, we will be using readers on your child's reading level that I have chosen from Reading A-Z. For learners who are still just learning to decode, we will use decodable readers to practice early phonics skills. The day before class, you will receive all printable PDF materials you will need. If you’re not able to print anything, that’s okay! Just let me know, and we can work together by using any materials you have on hand to make the class interactive and engaging for your learner. In addition to printable PDF materials, we may use Nearpod for some assessments and activities. If you would rather not use this third-party app, please let me know, and we will stick to paper assessments and activities. If we use Nearpod, I will send you a code along with any PDF materials needed before class so that you and your learner can access the Nearpod lesson ahead of time. Since this is a learner-directed and individualized class, topics and themes will depend on your learner and their interests as well as their reading level. Our class routine will look very similar for each class. During class, we will: ✨ do a sight word review, ✨ introduce the read-aloud and any new words, ✨read the story aloud with prompting, ✨ discuss and answer comprehension questions, ✨ learn a new sight word we found in the story, and ✨ play phonics/word games or activities at the end of class.
Learning Goals
Learners will:
✨Learn early reading skills through word study
✨Practice reading aloud
✨Play phonics games to practice phonics skills
✨Do word activities such as Sound Boxes, Missing Letter, Word Unscrambles, and Picture Sorting

Parental Guidance
One optional material listed below is playdough (as a sensory material to assist in learning activities). Just note that playdough does contain gluten, so if your child is sensitive to wheat or gluten, you can use other sensory materials such as small countable items instead.
For this class, we may be using a third-party app, Nearpod, for assessments and some activities. This external resource required parental consent to access. An account will not be required, however you will be asked to add your child's name when logging in using the Nearpod code I will send you. If you would rather not use Nearpod, that is totally fine! Just let me know and we will stick to paper assessments only.
Supply List
For this tutoring class, the following materials could be very helpful for your child's learning experience: ✨paper and something to write with (pens, pencils, markers, or even crayons are fine!) ✨a dry-erase board and dry-erase marker ✨magnetic letters (if you have them) ✨any sensory materials you have on hand, such as small countable items (like pom poms or small toys) or even playdough (optional)

Hi there! 😊
I'm Ms. Elizabeth, an early literacy and reading tutor for grades Pre-K through 2nd Grade. I also teach online preschool for ages 3-5 as well as art and reading/writing classes for ages 6-9.
My classes are fun, interactive, and highly engaging for young learners. I incorporate music, movement, stories, art, and hands-on learning activities for a holistic learning experience. I believe that a child-centric, play-based approach is best for young children as they learn.
I strive to create classes that spark my students' interests, engage with their curiosity, and inspire them to go even further in their learning. I love seeing my students get excited about reading, writing, creating, and exploring.
For my early reading tutoring classes, I follow the research-based science of reading principles, including teaching oral language, phonological awareness and phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, reading/language comprehension, and writing. I'm committed to helping your child learn the basic literacy skills they need to succeed in their reading journey. I use high-quality materials and individualize each tutoring lesson to fit your child's specific learning needs.
I've been teaching online for over 4 years. I began my teaching journey as an online ESL teacher, and then transitioned into teaching online preschool and early reading/writing classes.
I've been working with children for over 10 years as a babysitter, nanny, and tutor.
I have a Bachelor's degree in English/Creative Writing. Currently, I'm working on getting an associate's degree in early childhood care and education.
In addition to teaching, I also write fiction for young adults.
I love spending time at home with my husband and our two kitty babies, Kiki and Teddy. Once in a while, you may get to see a kitty in class too!
