Welcome to Reading and Writing in the Primary Grades! In this class your student will work on reading, writing, comprehension, and phonics in every lesson. The lessons will be an interactive lesson with the students doing hands-on activities and typically not realizing they are learning. Each week there will be a focus book, phonics skill and writing. The students will read the book while receiving assistance with decoding and comprehension. After reading the story, there will be a writing activity to further demonstrate their comprehension of the text. The students will also participate in a mini-lesson on a new spelling pattern. If a class needs to be cancelled or rescheduled, I'm happy to do so if notified at least 24 hours in advance. If a class is cancelled with less than 24 hours notice, the Outschool policy will be followed and I'm not able to refund the cost or provide a makeup date.
Learning Goals
The student will improve in his/her reading, comprehension, decoding, spelling patterns, and writing as identified by the teacher and parent.

Supply List
This will vary depending on the lesson. Its always a good idea to have paper and pencil or some type of writing material on hand.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
