Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 8
Beginner - Advanced Level
Welcome to One-on One Tutoring! In this class your student will be assessed using a formal assessment such as a Running Record and Developmental Spelling test to see what their strengths and opportunities for growth are. Once assessed, I'll develop an individualized lesson to work on a predetermined skill identified by the parents. We could work on letter recognition, letter sounds, phonics, reading, writing, spelling or a combination of skills.

The tutoring lessons will be an interactive lesson with the students doing hands-on activities and typically not realizing they are learning.

The lesson can be multiple times a week for 25 or 50 minutes working on different skills in the area of reading and writing.

In the first lesson, the student will be assessed formally. I'll then provide in writing the strengths and opportunities for growth to the parent. The parent and I'll communicate on the time commitment and what skills are a priority. I'll then write individualized lessons for the student based on the students needs. The parent and I will continue to communicate on the student's growth and the skills which need additional assistance. The parent will receive an email after each lesson of what we worked on and how the student did in the lesson.

If a class needs to be cancelled or rescheduled, I'm happy to do so if notified at least 48 hours in advance. If a class is cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, the Outschool policy will be followed and I'm not able to refund the cost or provide a makeup date.

Learning Goals

The student will improve in his/her opportunities for growth in reading and/or writing as identified by the teacher and parent.
