-Building understanding of sentence structure, identifying main ideas, and recognizing key details.
-Developing skills in summarizing, paraphrasing, and making inferences.
-Learning practical test-taking techniques, like identifying keywords, eliminating incorrect answers, and managing time effectively.

How is the Class Structured?

-Weekly Sessions: Each class lasts 45 minutes and includes a blend of activities, games, and guided practice.
-Homework Assignments: After each session, students will complete a short assignment, reinforcing the weekly topic.
-Midpoint and Final Assessments: We’ll have a halfway check-in on skills in Week 4 and a practice test in Week 8 to review progress.
-Open Q&A Time: Each class concludes with a 5-minute Q&A, so students feel comfortable asking questions and sharing insights.

My approach is highly interactive, using a variety of resources to engage different learning styles. This includes:

-Slides and Visual Aids: Key concepts are introduced with visual aids, like slides or graphics, making ideas clearer.
-Games and Interactive Exercises: Fun activities (like fill-in-the-blank, matching games, and multiple-choice challenges) help reinforce skills.
-Story and Passage Reading: Each week includes a short story or passage to read and analyze as a group, strengthening comprehension and discussion.
-Discussion & Group Work: I encourage students to discuss their thoughts and share ideas, fostering peer learning.

Teaching Style:
I believe in an engaging, supportive approach that combines instruction with interactive learning. I aim to:

-Encourage Confidence: I celebrate progress and help students feel comfortable tackling new skills.
-Engage with Questions: Students are encouraged to ask questions at any point, and I make time to address individual challenges.
-Support Different Learning Styles: Through visual aids, games, and group work, I support both auditory and visual learners.

Learning Needs
This class is designed to help struggling readers and test takers reach their maximum potential while reading.
Parental Guidance
I require camera to be kept ON during this Reading Comprehension class. It is difficult for me to check for comprehension of what we're reading if I cannot see your student. When a student camera is off and they do not reply to a question, I don't know if they're not answering because are not paying attention and are distracted, or if they simply don't understand and are thinking about how to answer. If their camera is on, it is much easier for me to assist them and make sure they are receiving the most benefit from class. I follow Outschool’s refund policy and don’t issue refunds for missed classes.
