This is a private class with only one student enrolled at a time. The student will be reading to a sulcata tortoise. Reading to animals is very therapeutic, as animals are non judgmental. I will only step in and help the child during reading if they ask for help with a word. If the child would like, I will also read after they have finished their story and if there is still time in class.. I have several picture books about turtles and tortoises that I will use during my reading time. ...
I take my tortoises to libraries frequently to let children read to them. It is such great fun to see them get excited about reading.
Students will need to bring their own books to read.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
