Rainbow Grammar: Tips for Good Writing With Your Favorite Queens
Christian Scholer, MA
Learning the parts of a sentence using popular drag queens and other LGBTQ performers in our example sentences
This one time class will be an overview of the different parts of a sentence, types of sentences, and some tips on how to write better. To make it fun, we'll be using only popular drag performers from RuPaul's Drag Race and other shows in our example sentences. An example might be: "Trixie and Katya host the show Uhhhh on YouTube." What is the subject of that sentence? What is the verb? How would you break up such a sentence into parts of speech? We will also practice writing our own...
Students will have a better understanding of different parts of a sentence, different types of sentences, and some writing tips by using a fun topic. Students will be able to practice their skills in class and receive feedback.
I hold my bachelor's degree in English and have taught English grammar for the past ten years. I previously taught grammar in both classroom settings as well as online. As an LGBTQ person, I have had a longtime love of the art of drag and drag queens. I am a RuPaul's Drag Race super fan, as well as a moderator for a Drag Race group on Facebook, and have been attending drag shows for 20 years.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
The sentence examples will be kept at a PG level. However, it is strongly recommended that only students who are already comfortable discussing drag queens and shows such as RuPaul's Drag Race enroll in the course.
