Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 2
The goal of this on-going course is to inspire a love of writing! At the beginning of each class, I will introduce my furry friends (guinea pigs) Marley, Milo, Molly, and Storm. Then I will show either a pre-recorded video or pictures of them going on a special adventure (different themed adventure each week). The students and I will use this as inspiration, and work together to write a narrative! I will take the students' ideas and guide them on how to turn these into a narrative. We will work on specific writing skills such as character traits, descriptive setting, problem and solution, strong endings, and sequence of events. Again, the goal of this course is to inspire a love of writing with a little help from my furry friends!

During class, the students and I will be working together to create a narrative. Each learner will get an equal amount of chances to share their ideas. I will annotate our whole class story on the screen, and a copy of the class narrative will be sent after each class! This way your learner will have a copy if they would like to share it with you or use it to guide their own narrative at home. This course is perfect for writers of all levels!

In addition to posting the class narrative at the end of class, I will also provide multiple different hand outs for all levels of writing - from drawing pictures, to copying a few words, to writing full sentences. Students can either use the class narrative to record on their handouts at home, or use the handouts to create their own. If so, I'd love for your learner to share it with me through a private message, or at the beginning of our next class!

Marley, Milo, Molly, and Storm are scheduled for the following adventures!

Week of July 29th: Trip to the Beach
Week of August 5th: Running with Dinosaurs
Week of August 12th: Racing Around Town (Transportation)
Week of August 19th: Trip to the Aquarium
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to take their ideas and turn them into a story while working with the teacher and classmates.
