In this four session course, students will practice creating unique sentences while correctly punctuating according to the shared sentence patterns. A picture will be provided each week for students to write about. The teacher will share expectations of various sentence patterns as well as examples for students to see correct models of the type of sentences they will create. Students will be encouraged to share created sentences in the chat box. A basic understanding of subjects and predicates prior to taking this course is helpful to success in this course. The method used has worked well with both students who enjoy writing and those who struggle. Session one: Writing compound and complex sentences correctly. Session two Writing introductory sentence elements: absolutes and participial phrases Session three: Writing with appositives Session four: Review and additional practice of weeks one through three

Studying Image Grammar by Harry Noden and Mechanically Inclined by Jeff Anderson influenced my thinking as I developed this lesson.
