US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 3
Before taking this class, I recommend taking my One Time Class (Private 1:1 Tutoring: Initial Assessment and Meet & Greet) as this class is created so that I can assess your learner and get to know you and your child. During our tutoring sessions, I will be using explicit phonics instruction in order to help emergent readers and struggling readers learn to read and spell. Explicit reading instruction has been proven to help readers of all levels! This research-based, systematic approach is not only proven to help children learn to read but it also supports students who need reading intervention or have been diagnosed with dyslexia. We will play games, read decodable stories and engage in fun activities. We will learn sounds, how to read words, and how to spell correctly. This class will move at the pace of your child and will be based on your child’s strengths and needs. We will build confidence, self-esteem and create a lifelong love for reading! **SCHEDULING: In order to best accommodate your schedule, please message me so that we can work out days and times that work!
Learning Goals
Learners will learn different phonetic sounds and will be able to use this understanding in order to read and spell. They will also learn decoding skills, reading with fluency, reading with comprehension, and will be able to use this knowledge to read a variety of grade-appropriate texts.

New York Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hi, I’m Sarah, and I’m passionate about helping children become confident, successful readers.
With over a decade of experience in education, including teaching dual-language kindergarten and running my own tutoring business, I specialize in providing personalized, explicit phonics instruction to emergent and struggling readers.
My journey began when I noticed a lack of accessible and practical curriculums tailored to meet the needs of diverse learners. This inspired me to create my own, blending foundational literacy with engaging, research-based techniques. Since then, I’ve worked with students from Kindergarten through 5th grade, helping them master everything from phonics and fluency to comprehension and vocabulary development.
I believe that every child learns differently, which is why I design individualized lesson plans based on assessments and ongoing progress monitoring. My data-driven approach ensures that every session meets your child where they are and takes them where they need to go.
When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my family and my little one and exploring creative ways to make learning fun. Whether your child is just starting out or needs extra support to thrive, I’m here to help them build a strong foundation for lifelong reading success.
Let’s work together to unlock your child’s reading potential!
