Private Tutoring: Explicit Reading Instruction for Beginning/ Struggling Readers

Before enrolling in this class, I recommend starting with my one-time session: Private 1:1 Tutoring: Initial Assessment and Meet & Greet. That session allows me to get to know your child, assess their reading skills using a data-driven tool like DIBELS, and create a personalized reading plan tailored to their strengths and needs.

In ongoing sessions, I use a research-based, systematic phonics approach rooted in the science of reading to help emergent and struggling readers build foundational skills in decoding, fluency, and spelling. This explicit instruction is especially effective for students who need reading intervention or have been diagnosed with dyslexia or other learning differences. Lessons are skill-based, and paced for mastery—so your child feels successful and supported every step of the way.

Each class is filled with meaningful, engaging activities that include word-building games, decodable stories, and lots of practice. Instruction is personalized and intentional, designed to grow confidence, reduce frustration, and help your child see themselves as a capable, independent reader. With consistent support, your child will not only improve their reading skills—but also develop the self-esteem and motivation that lead to lasting progress!
