Welcome to small group explicit phonics class! Before taking this class, please ensure that your child has mastered ALL letter names and sounds. During our tutoring sessions, I will be using explicit phonics instruction in order to help emergent readers and struggling readers learn to read and spell. Explicit reading instruction has been proven to help readers of all levels! This research-based, systematic approach is not only proven to help children learn to read but it also supports students who need reading intervention or have been diagnosed with dyslexia. We will play games, read decodable stories and engage in fun activities. We will learn sounds, how to read words, and how to spell correctly. This class will move at the pace of your child and will be based on your child’s strengths and needs. We will build confidence, and self-esteem and create a lifelong love for reading! With over a decade of experience in education, including teaching dual-language kindergarten and running my own tutoring business, I specialize in providing personalized, explicit phonics instruction to emergent and struggling readers.
