I am a fitness coach and professional acrobat passionate about health and fitness. During my time as a middle school science teacher, I integrated a more prominent fitness unit into the life science curriculum to help students learn about the health benefits of exercise and the variety of exercise types that are vital to the growing body as well as into adulthood. Additionally, I have been teaching fitness, gymnastics, and circus arts for 10 years to students aged 5-55 through a variety of camps, afterschool programs, gyms, recreational and professional institutions. I have experience teaching large groups, small classes, and private lessons, and have developed programs for one-on-one clients and recreational group classes. As a professional athlete, I combined my personal experience with practices learned from a variety of fitness and health professionals including physiotherapists, sports trainers, personal trainers, coaches, and teachers to create a well-rounded and inclusive exercise program.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This class is an exercise-based class. Students should have an open workout space free of dangerous and fragile objects that has a diameter of 1.5 times the height of the student. Students should come to class wearing comfortable workout apparel for stretching and bring a water bottle. The class will be performed barefoot and contain a warm-up period sufficient for the exercises performed in class. The exercises given in this class are designed for the students to do without a spotter or direct supervision. It is important to understand that injury is always possible when engaging in physical activities, so adult supervision is still encouraged to minimize the risk.
