Class Experience

To have a happy and confident atmosphere while improving and strengthening one ballet techniques. I personally feel that the fundamentals of dance come for having great ballet technique which starts at the ballet barre.
I live in NYC and am a professional performer. Growing up I was trained in a preprofessional ballet program at Allegheny Ballet Company while completing summer programs at Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, PA and Alvin Alley, NYC. I have a BA from The Pennsylvania State University in Theater and Dance and also graduated from American Musical and Dramatic Academy in NYC. I love dancing and am still working with many professional in NYC at Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center. I strive to teach in a positive, encouraging and fun atmosphere while teaching correct technique.

Barre: The student will need something to hold onto. A chair with a back is great to use if one does not have a portable ballet barre. Clothing: Please wear clothing you feel comfortable moving in. Students are welcomed to wear any leotards and tights/ leggings, shorts, t-shirts and workout clothing. I do encourage tighter fitting clothing so I can see the shapes of the student's body Foot wear: Depending on what floor the student will be using a student can use ballet slippers, sock or even bare feet. Money: Please do not feel that you have to spend any money on buying a ballet barre or equipment for this class. This class was meant to work with the materials that you already have around you. Safety for the student physical fitness routine. Please let me know of any previous or current injuries that may affect their ballet barre so we can work around them during the lesson. Please have the student in a small, but open workout space enough for at least a chair and the student can kick their leg. Footwear that is right for the student's floor. Water close by if needed, and any adequate stretching beforehand.
None, unless requested.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
