Class Experience

In this lesson we will go over the basics of makeup. Students will learn how to take care of their skin and choose what makeup is right for them. We will review color selection, products, how to use makeup products and what makeup is personally right for you.

Students are encouraged to bring their own make up if they want to practice some strategies! However, this is absolutely NOT required. I will be applying the makeup to myself to show different techniques and how to use the makeup. This class is driven toward adding knowledge to know what one is looking for when building their first makeup kit!

If the student is going to be joining in the fun with applying makeup I have listed below some of the basic materials that I will be using in the "Learner Supplies" section. Also, please note the "Parental Guidance" section about testing for allergies if one is going to be using their own makeup.

Learning Goals

To enhance knowledge of beauty products to make the right decisions for oneself when starting your own personal makeup journey!

Parental Guidance
If the student is using new makeup, that they have never experienced, I recommend to test the makeup before class to prevent an allergic reactions. I would do a patch test 24 hours before the lesson to prevent any reactions to the makeup during class. I have provided a link for patch testing. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjEZp4w3eqY https://www.vitacost.com/blog/bath-beauty/3-steps-to-patch-test-new-beauty-products.html During our lesson I will actually be washing my face, taking off previous makeup and then reapply it. However, I would recommend for the student to come to class with their face already cleansed and ready to apply if they are going to be putting on their own personal make up. https://www.wikihow.com/Prepare-Your-Face-Before-Applying-Makeup https://www.wikihow.com/Wash-Your-Face
Supply List
I encourage students to bring questions that they have about makeup. Also, everyone is welcomed to bring their own makeup to join in the lesson, however this is absolutely NOT required. Watching, listening and taking notes is fantastic as well! Parents or guardians will NOT need to purchase any extra makeup for this class. If a student is bring makeup to the class and has not used the makeup please note about allergies in the "Parental Guidance" section.
