Get your twirl on this summer with this engaging and energetic class designed for beginners and intermediate dancers looking to improve during the off-season! Whether you’re trying ballet for the first time or want to practice and perfect your basic skills, this class provides a supportive and structured way to stay active and develop strong foundational dance skills. Each class focuses on the fundamentals of ballet, helping dancers develop proper posture, balance, coordination, and ballet vocabulary (which consists of French words!) Students will practice ballet positions of the feet and arms, and essential steps like pliés, tendus, dégagés, sautés, basic turns, and all the sequential basics that build off of those skills. Barre is always the first portion of a ballet class, and the most important part of developing our dancing. At the barre is where we will introduce and familiarize ourselves with all the building blocks for ballet steps. After our time at the barre, we will move to the "center" to get our energy out and channel our inner ballerinas! During this portion of the class we will reinforce what we accomplished at the barre through practicing jumps, travelling movements, and some stationary steps. These movements will be incorporated through learning short combinations to help us absorb and retain our ballet knowledge. In addition to physical skills, dancers will develop musicality, rhythm, and a comprehensive vocabulary of French words. In this class I prioritize positive interaction with one another, offering personalized feedback and encouragement to help each dancer progress at their own pace. This sets the example for them to be non-judgmental in the dance world and cheer on their peers. We will have "Theme Weeks" occasionally throughout the summer, where we follow a fun theme with our music and dance combinations. Example: Taylor Swift, Disney, Broadway, etc. ALL themes and music are guaranteed to be age-appropriate and CLEAN. The kids are welcome to suggest themes and I will thoroughly determine if a suggestion is 100% appropriate or not. Since this is an ongoing class, dancers can join anytime and continue learning throughout the summer. Give your child the opportunity to express their energy through the art of ballet!

Stretching and strengthening may cause some temporary muscle soreness so I take all preventative measures by implementing an extensive warm-up through barre work and ask students to bring water to class.
A cool-down and light stretch after class may also be needed.
An open space that you can freely and safely move around in is required to participate in this class. Prepare your space before class.
Pre-Requisites
Previous ballet experience is NOT required. Just show up with an excitement to learn!
Supply List
• Wear tight-fitting athletic clothing (a leotard and tights is ideal) • Ballet slippers are recommended. Socks or any other soft dance shoe will suffice (jazz, lyrical) There is no requirement to buy special footwear. • An medium-large open space that you can freely and safely move around in is necessary for this class. • We will begin our class with barre so have a chair or surface to rest your hand on. • A water bottle (dance is thirsty work!)

I am an assistant teacher and substitute teacher at a dance studio where I work with children ages 2-12, instructing ballet, jazz, tap, hip-hop, lyrical, acro, and technique classes.
