Students will look into seventh grade math topics that students will review or a preview of next academic school year. Classes are designed to help students improve and reinforce their math skills while having fun. Students will be assessed on the first day of class to ensure they are in the appropriate math level. Each session will have a specific focus. Topics and level of difficulty will be adjusted for each grade level class. Get $10 off my class "Math 7 (Summer Class)" with coupon code TOSTR0ALVZ10 until Jun 17, 2022. Get started at https://outschool.com/classes/math-7-mHmIKwPv and enter the coupon code at checkout. Session 1 (6/20 to 7/1) - Topics will include a review of ratios and rates, how they connect to whole numbers, and using them to solve algebraic expressions. Session 2 (7/5 to 7/15) - Topics will include operations with rational numbers and working with linear equations. Session 3 (7/18-7/29) - Topics will include basic concepts from statistics and using these ideas to draw inferences about populations. Class format: First, 10 minutes: Warm up for each class students will participate in. Second, 15 minutes: Introduction of new content. There are 3 session topics that build on each other. Please see the schedule above. Final, 5 minutes: Exit Ticket. The exit ticket will be differentiated by a game or problem set.
Learning Goals
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.RP.A.1
Compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions, including ratios of lengths, areas and other quantities measured in like or different units.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.RP.A.2
Recognize and represent proportional relationships between quantities.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.EE.A.1
Apply properties of operations as strategies to add, subtract, factor, and expand linear expressions with rational coefficients.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.EE.A.2
Understand that rewriting an expression in different forms in a problem context can shed light on the problem and how the quantities in it are related.
CCSS.MATH.CONTENT.7.SP.A.2
Use data from a random sample to draw inferences about a population with an unknown characteristic of interest. Generate multiple samples (or simulated samples) of the same size to gauge the variation in estimates or predictions.
