Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 9
This class is a review of all 8th Grade mathematics in a short 4-week course.  Learners will learn all concepts and be able to confidently move forward to 9th grade math.  

The following concepts will be covered-

Week 1:
- Review integers, absolute value, and operations with fractions and decimals.
-  Cover exponent rules (zero, negative, powers of monomials), scientific notation, and operations with numbers in scientific notation.
- Compare rational and irrational numbers, classify numbers, and explore properties of real numbers.

Week 2:
- Identify and solve problems involving complementary, supplementary, vertical, and adjacent angles.
- Understand angle relationships with transversals, classify triangles, and apply the Triangle Sum Theorem.
- Perform and describe reflections, translations, rotations, and dilations.

Week 3-
-  Simplify expressions by combining like terms, distributing, and factoring linear expressions.
- Add, subtract, multiply, and divide monomials and polynomials.
- Solve one-step, two-step, and multi-step equations, including cases with no solution or infinite solutions.

Week 4-
- Solve and graph multi-step inequalities and apply inequalities in word problems.
- Solve word problems involving proportions, unit rates, and systems of linear equations.
- Use the Pythagorean Theorem and its converse in solving word problems and real-world applications.


At the end of this class, learners be prepared for 8th grade math! We will work at the pace of our learners, additional support is available for learners struggling with a specific concept.

Students will improve their math abilities and be ready for 9th grade math standards.
