Pre Algebra Summer Camp (Full Curriculum, for Incoming 7th-9th Graders)

After each lesson, students will be assessed informally through the student completing exit tickets individually. Progress will be shared with families and students are encouraged to try again if they did not master the skill.Class Experience

We will cover the following topics each week: Week of 8/29 - 8/31 8/29 - solving for slope in the real world 8/30 - solving for x and y in the real world 8/31 - writing in point slope form Each class students will receive a printable graphic organizer to learn the topics in an “I do, we do, you do” format. Then students complete practice problems followed by an exit ticket to show what they know. Learning Goals
Students will learn the most important pre-algebra skills by learning together, practicing with help and showing what they know by completing exit ticket problems independently after each lesson. Student progress will be shared with families in a progress tracker.

I have over a decade of experience working with youth through mentoring, working in special education, college-level tutoring, teaching English language learners and teaching gifted and talented students!
I have spent four years working as a volunteer mentor with 6th through 10th grade students. While studying at University, I tutored fellow college students in statistics and psychology courses. I also have experience working in special education as a special education technician assisting reading and math instruction. Through my year-long pre-service teacher education program I taught 5th and 7th grade students in mathematics. As a classroom teacher in both public and private schools, I teach 6th grade general education mathematics, 6th grade mathematics for English Language Learners, and 7th grade gifted and talented mathematics.
