This is a Learning Sequence to introduce your student to the Digital Darkroom using Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom for Photography
Class experience
Created as an introduction to the Digital Darkroom for students with an interest in taking their digital photography to the next level. This is a Live Video Instructor class for students to begin learning Photoshop workflow. Instructor will demonstrate Photoshop & Lightroom, techniques through Screen Sharing (live Demo inside of Adobe Photoshop & Lightroom) and afterwards, students can apply the techniques to their own photographs, organize and edit their photographs and also get help...
Students will learn how to import / organize their work into the Adobe Lightroom Catalog & do basic Digital Darkroom Adjustments Students will learn how to jump easily between Lightroom & Photoshop while working on their digital photographs. Students will learn how to use Adjustment Layers, to modify exposure, curves, colors & more. Students will learn how to retouch / repair damaged photographs (remove unwanted image elements). Students will learn how to apply Art Filters to images to make their photographs looks like amazing paintings. Students will learn how to Paint inside of Photoshop. Students will gain an understanding of what is possible with Photoshop. They will learn basic skills of using Lightroom and Opening up photographs, applying filters, repairing images, painting in Photoshop, creating & controlling color adjustments, learning how to save their work & more. *Please note, this is a 6 class sequence class *
I have taught Digital Photography Summer Camps for older kids & teens for the last 7 years. I also teach Photoshop & Advanced Photoshop in a California Community college setting for highschool & college age groups each semester during the school year, as well as a modified for kids version of a similar illustration class as a Summer Camp for jr.high age group - highschool. My personal experience is that I am a professional artist & also enjoy teaching as an art based technology instructor. I have BA Degrees in Media arts / Digital Media Communications & have worked as professional Graphic Artist / Photographer for 20 years. I am offering this class as a unique offering because suddenly I am finding myself teaching ALL my Digital Arts classes online & am currently home due to the nationwide school shut-down. I have 3 elementary aged children and have been putting them in all sorts of cool classes, when it occurred to me that I could share my illustration course to lots of artist who are jr.high & highschool age kids & teens who may also be currently affected by the school shut - down.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses adobe (Photoshop must be installed!). Photoshop & Lightroom subscription is $12 , there is also a 7 day trial available from Adobe.

It is recommended that Students have a folder of images from a Digital Camera uploaded onto their individual computers at home so that Students can work with Photographic image subjects of their choice. Photography Subject Matter which is encouraged includes: Landscapes, Vacation, Scenery, Food, Portraits, Sports, Flowers, Animals, Pets, Architecture, Candids etc. **Parents be certain to check and explain to your students, that their chosen set of images are acceptable as content and are consistent with regular school standards and do not display (nudity, violence etc anything that would normally not be allowed during traditional "school") ** Students displaying photographs that violate community standards may be placed in the waiting room until issues are resolved.
