Class Experience
Beginner Level
In this personalized 25 minute session, I will work with your learner to develop a fun adventure story that will help them complete actions in chores, such as cleaning their bedroom. Turning mundane tasks into fun experiences can help individuals with executive function challenges complete tasks with more regularity by increasing the dopamine response in the brain. Furthermore, I will be performing an action called body doubling which is a gentle accountability tool that will help learners with ADHD and other executive function challenges feel urgency to complete the task at hand.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to tackle overwhelming tasks by breaking them down into smaller tasks.
Students will use timers to help them take action on non-preferred tasks.
Students will learn how to craft an imaginative narrative to make tasks more preferable.
Teacher will model gentle accountability through body doubling.
Other Details
Learning Needs
This course is designed specifically to help students with ADHD and other executive functioning deficiencies practice skills that will help them complete important chores, such as cleaning their room, by gamifying the content.
Supply List
A project/chore that the learner can complete in the twenty-five minute session.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
