Class Experience

If a child struggles in math or writing, they are offered encouragement, support, tools and strategies that will help them be successful. Somehow, kids who struggle with keeping things neat, tidy and organized don't always find the same care and support! Kids who struggle with messiness often need skills, tools and encouragement to conquer the chaos!

This group will be a judgement free zone. I was the kid who had a messy room and a messy desk, the teenager with a messy locker, and the adult who had a messy house and a messy car. I know how frustrating it can be to just not be naturally tidy. So, with empathy and kindness (and humour and fun too), I teach a simple and consistent process for getting bedrooms under control. Learners will be encouraged, supported and coached and come away with tips and ideas for organizing and decorating their space as well.

Each session will be 45 minutes in length and include approximately 10 minutes of talking/teaching, and 35 minutes of coached cleaning, decluttering and organizing. Learners will gain skills and confidence to break down the tasks necessary to keep their room neat and tidy, and have fun along the way. Each session will stand alone - learners can enter this course easily at any point as we will begin every class reviewing our steps and getting right to work! Learners will make improvements on their personal spaces every time they come. Guaranteed!

Topics for our conversations will vary week to week with a rotation of our main themes between tidying, decluttering, and organizing. Each learner will be encouraged to identify the most pressing need in their own space and coached through making improvements. Learners may ask questions or make suggestions that will guide the focus to ensure it is as helpful, fun and productive as possible for each and every learner.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a teacher, a tutor and a mom from British Columbia, Canada. I currently am teaching full time in the public school system and enjoy tutoring and coaching part-time on Outschool as well.

As a child academics came very easily for me, but personal organization did not. I was the kind of kid who had a messy room and a messy desk, and later a messy locker, apartment and car! Kids who struggle with math or writing, often get support. Kids who struggle with life skills instead tend to get judged and treated like they are just lazy or don't care. I cared and my inability to figure out how to keep things tidy was frustrating, stressful and embarrassing!

I have studied and learned ways to work with my brain to get and keep things clean and organized. I love working with kids and teens who need a little extra encouragement, support and training in this area - and offer judgement-free, kindness based coaching for kids.

I really hope to get to meet and work with your children.
