Homework
1 hour per week. Learners homework is to implement the methods discussed in each class. I will be checking in 2-4 times a week, between our weekly class meetings, to monitor progress and to answer any questions.Class Experience
US Grade 6 - 12
In this 1:1 class, we will take a personalized look at your learners goals, study habits, and brainstorm ideas on how to create the best plan of action. Planning your studies or extracurricular activities can be overwhelming, especially when you look at al of the different options. Planning is a trial and error activity, and it's always productive to recognize what doesn't work and to be able to try something new. In this class, we will examine our needs, our schedule, and what style and method works best for us. Apart from our weekly scheduled meeting, I will check in with students 2-4 times a week, as needed, to monitor progress for the duration of their registration. I have my schedule open for availability so that you can open a class day and time that works best for you. Please see the above open schedule or message me for more details. This class is set up in the Ongoing class format, but each learner will start at class 1 and will progress at their rate depending on enrollment. If there are any concerns (using time wisely, planning and scheduling) that you would like to emphasize, please let me know prior to start of class. This class is customizable to each students needs. We can focus on time management, homework organization, long term goals, or other topics that might help your student achieve success. This class will revolve around the students needs, but a breakdown of some of the topics covered are: Class 1 - Different types of planners - Bullet, Academic, Daily, Monthly, Hourly, Block Class 2 - Should you use multiple planners? Class 3 - Review of planners that student has tried - what works vs. what doesn't work Class 4 - Creating a planner that works for us Class 5 - How do we use to-do lists with our planners? Class 6 - Creating different tracking sheets for different activities or goals Class 7 - Creating personal goal sheets; Learning to plan backwards Class 8 - Using stickers, washi tape, and colors to organize our planners Class 9 - Using your planner as a journal Class 10 - Organizing your time - Pomodoro Method, Timers Class 11 - Using our study time effectively Class 12 - Incorporating electronics into planning and organizing Class 13 - Time Management Strategies - The Gilbreth's Class 14 - 15 - Working on Personal goals and reviewing students study habits Class 16 - What study tips help and don't help Class 17 - Organizing our desk and bags Class 18 - Different forms of digital organization and how to incorporate with paper planners Class 19 - Making planning fun Class 20 - Review of what has been working and what hasn't Class will continue on a learner by learner basis as needed and instructed by Parents. Learning Goals
In this 1:1 class, students will have an opportunity to have a personal guide through their studies. I will help coach them on the best methods of planning, tracking, note taking, and time management. Each course is customizable to the students needs.
Other Details
Parental Guidance
Some classes may use Youtube videos. Students will be shown several external resources for creating worksheets or digital planners that may work for them. Parents are advised to confirm these sites - Canva and Notion.
Supply List
Each student will need different supplies, as there are different types of planners and planning supplies. Students are advised to try different items that they may already have around the house - blank notebooks, highlighters and markers, post-its, etc.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree from Louisiana State University
I have been an educator on Outschool since February of 2018. I have my MBA and MHA, both of which have taught me the value of conducting research and asking questions. I am currently working towards two more degrees (BA and MAH) and have learned several different methods of organizing, planning, and studying that have helped me immensely. I have a passion for history and learning. You can usually find me in the middle of 2-3 books or watching a documentary.
