Class Experience

In this one time class students will learn about the correct sequence of steps needed to solve math problems with multiple operations. This collection of rules is universal and is commonly referred to as the "Order of Operations" or "PEMDAS". It does not matter if you are in a 6th grade math class, taking an advanced calculus class or working as a computer programer, all mathematicians must follow the order of operations.

Bring paper, pencil and crayons to class to take notes because these rules never change. When you register for class you will be able to print out worksheets that will help with your note taking.

Students will be taught via google slides and document camera. They will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and comment on what we discuss. This class is kept to six students or less to ensure each student has a chance to participate in the discussion. A practice worksheet will be sent to students after class so they can practice what they have learned.

Students should be proficient in basic math computations (adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing) before taking this class.

This class is part of my "Number Sense" series of classes offered over the course of ten weeks (if two classes are taken per week). These classes are offered individually so that parents and students can sign up for all the classes or just choose which classes fit their needs. The entire Number Sense series will include the following classes:

Number Classification (1 class)
Rounding and Place Value (1 class)
Greatest Common Factor (GCF) and Least Common Multiple (LCM) (2 classes)
Fun Fractions (4 classes)
Dynamite Decimals (4 classes)
The Positive and Negative of Integers (4 classes)
Order of Operations (1 class)
Inequalities (1 classe)
Scientific Notation (2 classes)

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. If you don't see a time that works with your schedule, please contact me via Outschool and include a few times (and the time zone you reside in) that you are available. I hope to see your in class soon! Mrs. Fox

Hello! My name is Mrs. Fox and I am excited to be able to offer classes on Outschool that pertain to my two favorite subjects: Music and Math. I attended Louisiana State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Music Performance and attended the University of Central Florida and graduated with a Masters in Business Administration. I am a musician, a teacher and a business owner. I play the oboe, teach private music lessons and play in many ensembles including the Indian River Pops Orchestra, the Academy Orchestra, the New Gardens Band and the Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble. I also love mathematics and I am a retired math teacher who was certified in Mathematics Grades 6-12. I live with my husband, our son and our pet dog. In each class I will create a meaningful learning experience for each student that will promote curiosity and life long learning. I can't wait to share my knowledge and passion with your student. Hope to see you in class soon! Mrs. Fox
