Class Experience

In this class students will listen to an abbreviated version of the story of the Nutcracker adapted from E.T.A. Hoffmann's story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King".  We will listen to some of Tchaikovsky's music that he wrote in 1892 for the ballet production and watch a few video clips from the ballet.  This music is considered to be one of Tchaikovsky's most famous compositions and the ballet is now performed by numerous ballet companies each Holiday Season but it was not that popular when it was first performed.  We will discuss the history of the ballet and talk about some of the more famous characters from the book and the ballet.

Students will be taught via google slides.  They will have plenty of opportunity to ask questions and comment on what we discuss.  This class is kept to four students or less to ensure each student has a chance to participate in the discussion.

Hello! My name is Mrs. Fox and I am excited to be able to offer classes on Outschool that pertain to my two favorite subjects: Music and Math.  I attended Louisiana State University and graduated with a Bachelors in Music Performance and attended the University of Central Florida and graduated with a Masters in Business Administration. I am a musician, a teacher and a business owner. I play the oboe, teach private music lessons and play in many ensembles including the Indian River Pops Orchestra, the Academy Orchestra, the New Gardens Band and the Treasure Coast Wind Ensemble. I also love mathematics and I am a retired math teacher who was certified in Mathematics Grades 6-12. I live with my husband, our son and our pet dog.  In each class I will create a meaningful learning experience for each student that will promote curiosity and life long learning.  I can't wait to share my knowledge and passion with your student.
