Course begins with going over the general format the ACT Science test and how its approach is unique from other sections of the test. We will be going over a powerpoint that describes the three types of passages on the ACT Science test and how to approach the ones that focus on data. Special care is given to illustrate that the ACT Science test actually gauges scientific thinking and data organization rather than memorization of science terms and facts. After the lecture we will be going to the ACT's released practice test and practicing actual test questions as released by the test maker.
Learning Goals
Students will become familiar with the test format and specific content of the ACT Science section. They will be introduced to the three types of passages on the test: data interpretation, lab reports, and paired reading passages. They will learn how to sift through the deluge of data, ignore red herrings and focus in on what the questions require. This will improve their competency, speed and comfort with the ACT Science test.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Education from University of Missouri-St. Louis
After working as a full-time teacher and earning my master's degree, I went into tutoring. I have almost a decade in test prep tutoring, teaching in one on one, small group, large seminar, and online formats. I have worked with the old SAT, ACT, and the new SAT format. I am particularly suited to this course, as my method of approaching the ACT Science section netted me a perfect score on the section when I was in high school. This course is unique because it is a data-driven course taught by a highly experienced teacher while at the same time chock full of nerdy references to keep things fun.
