Class Experience

This social club offers kids a space to play the new 3rd person shooter game Splatoon 3 with other kids online. We'll still be using Zoom to chat and talk, and the chats will be closely monitored by myself and will emphasize sportsmanship and respect. If children wish to observe but not play, that is possible as well given that I can stream our battles over the Zoom call and others can watch. Each week will consist of students logging in to both Zoom and Splatoon 3, and playing against each other while chatting on Zoom. Topics of discussion are not pre-determined as much of it is learner-led and based upon the gameplay that will vary from week to week. Materials needed include a Nintendo Switch, a copy of the game Splatoon 3, and a subscription to Nintendo Online to be able to play online.

Splatoon 3 is a 3rd person shooter game for the Nintendo Switch. It is rated E 10 for players 10 and older. Players work together in teams of four to try and control more territory than the opposing team.

Learning Goals

Students will hone their Splatoon skills in intense, eight player team battles. They will learn the thrill of victory, the agony of defeat, teamwork, and how to show good sportsmanship throughout.

I have played every Splatoon released, so I have experience in the Splatoon style of shooting game. As a teacher, I have a Master's Degree in Secondary Education and have been teaching kids for more than a decade. On Outschool I have been running Super Smash Bros clubs for two years and have built a bit of a following due to my focus on fun and sportsmanship.
