In this class, students will learn the basic concept of multiplication using their love of Minecraft. We will review columns/rows and how these create an array. (This class focuses on the concept of ARRAYS in multiplication.) This class is designed to be an introduction to multiplication and arrays. In this class students will learn: Repeated Addition Multiplication Vocabulary words (Columns, Rows) How to draw pictures of multiplication equations in relation to arrays How to write multiplication equations What the numbers in the multiplication equations represent
I have over 10 years of experience teaching multiplication one-on-one and in group discussions.
There is no homework for this class. Students are encouraged to complete the Kahoot activity sent to all enrolled students after class.
In this class students will need to bring the following materials: 1. Something to write on (paper, marker board, chalk board, OR digital screen) 2. Writing tool (pencil, markers, crayons, OR colored pencils) 3. Second device to play Kahoot game on (tablet, iPad, phone) *This is optional
There is no formal assessment for this class. Students progress will be assessed throughout the lesson by answering questions out loud individually or as a group. Students will also be required to draw grouping pictures to model multiplication during the independent activities to demonstrate their understanding. Students knowledge can also be gauged through playing the Kahoot game at the end of class.
