There is no formal assessment in this class. Students' knowledge of their subtraction facts can be gauged through playing the Kahoot game in class and after class. (If parents/students have a free Kahoot account a detailed report will be sent to parents/students after each class. This includes (correct answers/ incorrect answers/ unanswered questions). The report will also grade your child's work.Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 2
In these ongoing weekly classes students will learn and memorize their subtraction facts (0-20). These lessons are all Pokémon themed! STUDENTS WILL NOT PLAY ANY OF THE POKEMON GAMES IN THIS CLASS. Students will use a Pokémon themed Kahoot activity I have created each week to practice their subtraction facts. This is a fast-paced class designed as a digital flash-card practice review game. Students will practice their subtraction facts with a timer to help with fluency. Students can benefit from these classes if they are just beginning to learn their facts or if they need to brush up on their skills. Students do NOT need to have prior knowledge of the subtraction facts for this class. The subtraction fact Kahoot activities will help to improve fluency and retention of the subtraction facts (0-20). I have integrated "study time" into our Kahoot activity to be able to review different tricks for learning the subtraction facts (0-20). Students can also build confidence playing with their classmates and watching their own scores improve each week! Kahoot is an educational website that will allow your student to interact with the lesson by selecting answers in real time. Instructions on how to access/use Kahoot will be sent to all enrolled students/parents before class. Enrolled students will also be sent a (Kahoot Scores Card) to help them keep track of their weekly scores. This should be sent to you in the "Welcome email" once enrolled. I recommend students create a free Kahoot account, so parents and students can have access to a personal detailed report of each class. This will serve as a way for students to track their "personal" progress and watch their scores improve! If you have questions about this, let me know. It is a GREAT way to track your learners progress in classes. You will be able to see all the subtraction equations students completed correctly/ incorrectly or questions left unanswered. Extension activities will also be provided for students each week to complete after class. These will ALWAYS be OPTIONAL but encouraged. Students will be able to complete either a subtraction facts Kahoot game or Booklet game I have created as optional homework. This class will use the website Kahoot to allow students to interact with the lesson. Specific information and directions for how to use Kahoot will be sent to parents before class. Kahoot is FREE to use and there is NO download needed. Also, you do not have to make a free account or sign up, unless you would like to receive a detailed report after each class. - Week 1 (10/13): Memorize Subtraction Facts (0-12) Counting backwards - Week 2 (10/20): Memorize Subtraction Facts (0-12) Use addition strategy to subtract - Week 3 (10/27): Memorize Subtraction Facts (0-12) Use fact families to subtract - Week 4 (11/3): Memorize Subtraction Facts (0-12) Use Doubles to subtract - Week 5 (11/10): Memorize Subtraction Facts (0-12) Practice Subtraction Facts (0-20) -Week 6 (11/17): Memorize Subtraction Facts (0-12) Practice Subtraction Facts (0-30) - Week 7 (11/24): Memorize Subtraction Facts (0-12) Practice Subtraction Facts (0-40) - Week 8 (12/1): Memorize Subtraction Facts (0-12) Practice Subtraction Facts (0-50) (This class does not build.
