Teacher observations during class as well as verbal/written feedback will be provided to assess student learning.Class Experience
US Grade 1 - 3
In this ongoing class, learners will be able to review and practice Elementary math operations in a variety of ways using the Montessori stamp game material. Each week will focus on a specific math operation, ranging from static addition to dynamic division. Before instruction begins, we’ll take a few minutes to do introductions, a brief icebreaker and review some simple class rules. Then the fun begins! I will be screen sharing my materials via document camera so learners can have a more genuine and realistic experience of doing the math work alongside me using the stamp game. I will help guide students from the concrete towards abstraction and give them time to work through problems independently. I believe in student centered learning, so I am happy to adjust to the pace at which they are comfortable and confident. More challenging work can be given if that’s needed as well! Math activities will be posted before and after the meeting. I am happy to provide prompt feedback for completed work that is sent to me or presented to me in class. Please see the following breakdown of weekly sessions and topics: Week 1: Topic 1: Static Addition (ones to thousands) Week 2: Topic 2: Dynamic Addition (ones to thousands) Week 3: Topic 3: Static Subtraction (ones to thousands) Week 4: Topic 4: Dynamic Subtraction ( ones to thousands) Week 5: Topic 5: Static Multiplication (ones to thousands, one multiplier) Week 6: Topic 6: Dynamic Multiplication (ones to thousands, one multiplier) Week 7: Topic 7: Static Division ( ones to thousands, one divisor) Week 8: Topic 8: Dynamic Division (ones to thousands, one divisor ) Learners do not need to have the wooden stamp game material, and I will provide an electronic printable version to use before and after class. Learner should be proficient in basic math computation skills before taking this course. If you don’t see a time that works with your schedule, please contact me via Outschool and I will do my best to schedule a time that is convenient. I look forward to seeing your learner in class soon! Ms. Kristi
