Middle School Writing (IEW SSS Level 1B) FLEX - First Semester

Students do not need IEW Experience. This FLEX class will have no LIVE instruction.

The lessons in this course will teach IEW Structure and Style in writing.  Structure teaches students how to organize their thoughts before they write.  Style teaches students how to engage the reader with literary devices called dress-ups and decorations in IEW. The class will operate as follows:

1. At the beginning of each week, the teacher will post a lesson highlight video. This will help the students understand what to expect and what to pay close attention to during their IEW video lesson.
2. Students will watch the IEW video lesson and complete the homework. Students will turn in their work and receive feedback from the instructor on every assignment submitted. 
3. Each week, the instructor will post questions, challenges, or writing prompts that students can respond do.  Students will interact with other students by working together to analyze, edit, and complete these challenges. Examples include think of all the ly adverbs you could use to describe a verb or to add a simile to "Her tears flowed down her cheeks like..." 
4. Students will also play games to reinforce learning on Quizlet throughout the class.
