Menseki Meiro puzzles ("Area Mazes") originally created by Naoki Inaba are not only fun and addictive, they also reinforce critical thinking skills. These puzzles involve a complex web of rectangles. Some areas and side lengths are provided, while others are not. Your task is to find the missing value using your knowledge of area and your powers of critical thinking. I love teaching math and logical reasoning through puzzles! I find that this can be a very engaging way to apply math and enjoy it!

A handout will be provided. It is recommended that learners print the handout in advance of class.
