In this class, students will learn how to find the mean (average), median (middle number), mode (most repeated number) and range (difference between the smallest and largest data point) in a data set in both table and graph format. Students will be presented opportunities to solve questions to enhance their understanding of these concepts in data tables and graphs to help students learn how to use these in real world scenarios. Students will participate in class by completing questions with...

I am a 5th grade math teacher, and have taught math review on Outschool since January of 2019. I have worked with various students from various backgrounds to help them master mathematics for over 10 years as a teacher, including private tutoring. I am very familiar with digital learning and how to work with students online. I also integrate review for students to practice to show me how they are progressing. I stay on after the session ends if students need a bit more review.
Students may finish any problem not covered in the class set, and will be provided practice problems to reinforce skills covered (answer key included).
Students will be provided worksheet with problems for the lesson, as well as additional practice problems after the lesson. Please, if possible, have with student for class to follow along during the lesson (but do not work ahead in this class as we will use the practice problems on the screen).
Students will submit answers to teacher via chat during class to demonstrate mastery. Students may also participate and solve problems on screen verbally.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Please practice material with students that is provided to help support learning. Students may need help navigating technology, such as chat. Please help them if needed to send responses.
Practice materials will be provided for students to use during class, as well as practice material for after the session to continue enrichment of learning.
