Learners in this class will enjoy a lively 30 minute debate style discussion centered around a different creative math activity/topic each week. Learners will have the opportunity to think independently, share their thinking with the group, and defend their thinking using mathematical strategies and vocabulary with support from classmates and from the teacher. Respect for each learners ideas and thought processes will be emphasized throughout each class session. Week 1 (Week 0f 2/24/24): What Shape Could This Be? Teacher expertise and credentials
As a recently retired Gifted and Talented Intervention Specialist, I have a passion for helping young children discover the joy of learning! Before moving into Gifted education, I taught elementary Math and Science to fourth and fifth grade students. In addition to my education certifications in Elementary Education, Gifted Education, and English as a Second Language, I also have a degree in Biology from Wake Forest University.
