Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Intermediate Level
Make Sense of Number Sense! Number Sense is the awareness of numbers and their uses in the world around us and forms one of the five NCTM content standards for math. The five standards are: Number Sense, Geometry, Algebra, Data Analysis and Measurement. This course concentrates on Number Sense which is the foundation to a student’s key math abilities. Topics will include: types of numbers, fractions, decimals, integers, order of operations, percents, scientific notation, and more. This class is created using the curriculum for grades 6-8 and is a good prerequisite for Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Geometry and Algebra. At the end of this class, students will have notes, art projects, worksheets, and practice problems that can then be used as a reference for future math classes. Lessons are taught by an experienced math teacher, and classes are kept to 8 students or less.
