Make Sense of Number Sense! Number Sense is the awareness of numbers and their uses in the world around us and forms one of the five NCTM content standards for math. At the end of this class students will have a basic understanding of various number systems and will be able to select the appropriate operation to solve math problems. They will be able understand different ways numbers are represented in the real world.
Students will have a small amount of work to complete outside of class. More work to reinforce a lesson can/may be given if an individual student needs extra practice.
Computer paper, crayons or colored pencils, #2 pencils and a whiteboard are useful tools to bring to class. I will also occasionally send worksheets and materials out to the students in the class. ThatQuiz may also be used to determine proficiency.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Because of the small class size, it is possible to assess students during class to determine competency. If a student needs extra help they may be given some extra math resources they will need to complete before the next class.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
