Class Experience

Thank you for taking some time to find out about my Level 6! Part 1 Rock Out For Beginners Class.

(Level 6 consists of two parts before reaching level 6)

If you've made it this far you will be at the stage of your learning where you will be getting into much more intermediate playing styles. The first five levels gave you a solid foundation of basic guitar skills. We are now at the beginning stages of getting towards more advanced playing skills. As long as you keep going through my levels, you will continue to notice great advancements in your understanding of how to become both a fantastic guitarist and musician.

In this level we will be learning the following about the language of music.

1) The importance of scales and how they are used in song arrangements: almost every song from every era uses a variety of scales and intervals of notes to create combinations of melodies, chords and patterns that invoke emotion. We will be learning about these scales and how they are used.

2) Capo placement and key changes: capo's are often used to create various unique voicings for chords. They are also used as a method for easily changing between keys using the same finger positions. We will be going over the strategy for understanding where to place a capo, why we would place a capo on one fret vs. another and how key is effected as a result.

3) Strategies for ear training: training our ear to pick apart melodies, chords and rhythms is vitally important in the development of any musician. The skills you will learn and the tools for training your ear will come in handy for any genre or style of music.

4) Melody composition: melodies are made up of a variety of patterns of notes placed together quite intuitively. The vocabulary necessary to put together our own and deconstruct melodies already in existence can be used for the purposes of song writing and improvisation.

5) Chord composition: having a deep knowledge of chord names and the notes comprised in each chord helps any musician create, understand and develop an ear for various chord patterns that are possible to use in a song arrangement.

There is so much this course will cover and introduce you to. I look forward to having you with me during the first initial steps you take on your journey to becoming an incredible guitarist!
